An error 202 on LE-1000 or LE-1200, as well as error 203 on LEX-1000 or LEX-1200 are the same issue, and one of the most common errors on these edgers. The machine attempts to lower the feeler arms, but the sensor that reads its “down” position does not return to the machine that the arms made it all the way down, then you are confronted with a “feeler lift error”.
Generally, this issue is caused by debris built-up around the shaft to which the feeler arm is attached. Try cleaning around the shaft where it passes through the hole in the grinding chamber plastic.
On LEX machines, hit Menu, arrow down to Cleaning then hit Enter. Once in Cleaning Mode, hit the Chuck button for “feeler control”- this will lower the arm and allow you to move the arm to the right to clean the shaft.
On LE-1000/ LE-1200, hold the Stop button and hit Menu. Use the UP arrow to go all the way to the bottom of the list and hit Enter for Hardware Test. Arrow down to LMU then hit the button below the word “Down” at the bottom of the screen- now you can slide the arm over to the right to clean the shaft.
If you’re still having issues, feel free to give me a call. If this error recurs regularly and there’s no sign of debris, the bearing inside the shaft is likely the culprit and you will need to exchange or have the LMU rebuilt.
